Primary Chase

This last Saturday Micah received a text asking if we could substitute the 5-6 year old class.
I've always thought it would be so fun to teach Primary. I love kids and what fun would it be to attend Primary and teach a lesson to sweet kids. Right?
Micah and I prepared for a fun 5 year old class. Got all the coloring stuff and since the time of the call we could not get treats (which I think would of helped the class).
So we go to Sacrament feeling pretty good about ourselves.
We go to Primary and apparently we were early, you could tell we were first timers. They showed us to our row and the kids came in slowly. Cute little boys sat on our row and we were so happy.
Primary was about to start when the 2 trouble makers make it to our row. One yelling, "I don't like new teachers, I don't like NEW TEACHERS." She then ran to her mom (I think). One sat down to me and loved to tell me everything about her. Later, in the same hour the girl came back to the row ready to give me a hard time for the rest of the hour and the next. She ran around the primary acting so crazy. Then she yells, "I need to go to the bathroom." So I followed her out, it looked like she wasn't planning on it but knew she had to because I was following her. While in the bathroom she was not going to wash her hands, to me that is NASTY. So some how I talked her into it, and there she was playing in the soap and water regretting my wants on her washing her hands. (But glad she did) I gave her several warnings nothing really worked. She then replies, "I need to wash my hands really good because I have been picking my nose." Well then glad she washed her hands even more. I tried to race her back to the primary class....that didn't work she just said, "I hate when people do that, they just make up silly games to try to get kids where they want them." ..... (my response to her)
We finally made it back into the Primary class and boy was it rough as she continued to run around the Primary room.
We then went to the classroom, these two girls were crazy. But I think we handled the situation great. We tried to get them involved and I think they enjoyed it. The other kids were so great and I appreciate their cuteness...because after dealing with those two kids I didn't want kids, but then I look at the other 4 they were great, and I think my kid could be that great. (in the future)
Hope you had a great laugh from our experience. :)

The Battle!

Well I thought I would tell you a story that has been happening that blew up and how my Heavenly Father is watching out for me.
The past few weeks some of the staff I work with and my self were being bullied by our head person of the girls program (not the in-laws). And one day a girl came to me and said things I felt I needed to report. As more came out on these two when I went and talked to the head people. It got uglier. I made a funny remark on facebook and I got chewed out through text. I was in awe that I was being treated so poorly with people I worked with. Not only at work but in my personal life. There would be days I'd just come home crying. I think the worst(besides yesterday) I had my music playing and the song "Be OK" started to play and the tears just rolled out. I've wanted to talk to my parents about how I was feeling. But on the flip side I didn't want them to worry about me. I don't like to add stress that way. Yesterday these 2 girls were just plainly rude to me. I couldn't stand it anymore. I just started to cry at work. I cried to the lady in charge of the hires and told her I can't stand them anymore. I should mention My mother-in-law and this lady have been by my side through it all. They called me and wanted to help me out. Well few hours later I got a text from my mother-in-law that they had quit and just walked out of work. I should mention working with troubled teens and them already having abandonment issues this was a bad call on her. She was the leader of the house and she just showed them she did not care about them. I got nasty texts they were so evil. Swear words, and them telling me I was the reason they quit it was all my fault. That I opened my mouth to the girls. Never did I do that. The girls came to me and told me things. And only 2 girls knew what was really going on. It just made me mad. And she went on and on about how all the staff hate me and I talk crap on all the staff I work with to the girls. Never have I done that. I love these girls and I love the staff I work with. I consider them my family. We are doing a hard job. I was trying so hard not to take it personal until the leader texted me. I didn't even finish her nasty texts. I just cried and couldn't stop. What were these two doing to me. I could fill there was a dark spirit with me. And it made me freak out more. I knelt on my knees and cried to my Heavenly Father to help me. That I needed a blessing. Micah was gone at this point helping with all the craziness at work. And I get this knock at the door. I couldn't tell what door it came from. If it was from inside to my grandparents home or outside and someone coming to get me. Low and behold my grandmother walks in. I could tell she was so sad to see me in that state. She asked if I wanted her to stay with me and have her watch TV with me. And then she said "You have 2 uncles upstairs and grandpa, Would you like a blessing?" My prayer was answered instantly. I couldn't stop crying with how I felt and that my sweet grandma came to me. I was a little scared that they all heard me crying upstairs. So I went up and there were my uncles. They hugged me and asked me what was wrong. I think I scared my cousin a little that was upstairs. And then they gave me a blessing and there it was in the blessing "There is a dark spirit that has made himself present to Katheryn, please let her know that what she did was the right thing. And that dark spirit will leave her body and her house." I just started to cry because I was so happy my uncles and grandpa were there and my grandma asking if I wanted a blessing. I found out that Micah had called and asked my grandma to go check on me. I'm grateful. Earlier I talked to McKenzie and she helped me so much. She helped me calm down when I told her of the pain I've been going through. And after the blessing Cydne called me. She let Micah and I come over and eat dinner and just come and talk. I hope everyone I work with and the girls, I hope we really can get through this. Because the poison is gone.
Well there is my sob story.

General Conference Goodness...

I don't know about you, but every October first Saturday and Sunday it is time to grab your pillow, blanket, pen and pad of paper, for it is General Conference time. I love being a part of the Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ. I have so many great opportunities and one of them is listening to the Prophets voice and the apostles.

Well I will share some pieces from my favorite talks, just a line or two. Okay, I know you all enjoyed to. So share some of your favorites with me. I would love it if you did.
I loved Saturday Morning Session when President Thomas S. Monson last words were "Miracles Can Happen." I defiantly believe that and it really just stood out to me. I also enjoyed Sister Matsumori said that we should have quiet time each day to listen to that still small voice. I loved Elder Bednars talk when he talked about being more diligent and concern at home and then talked about Baring our testimony and living it. I am really bad at getting up on fast Sunday to bare my testimony. I know this all the sudden won't change but I plan to share it with people. Something I can work on, I know I have a great testimony I just need to share it more. So that really stuck out to me. I loved what President Uctdorf said "What we think determines who we are and who we'll become." How powerful is that? Loved what Elder Oaks said "Real love is not letting the person you love do stupid things." I know this is a common saying I've heard it here and there. But coming from Elder Oaks it just means so much more. I loved when President Thomas S. Monson talked about service and started out with the question, "What did you do nice for someone today?" Also Elder Holland, wow, That was some talk he gave. He showed his love for the book of Mormon. What an awesome talk.

I would also love to share what the girls did during Priesthood Session. We were so lucky to go bowling. Not all of us could go, but my mother, Cydne, Sierra, Whitney and I went bowling. Although Whit and I are not amazing bowlers the other 3 were amazing. I did one good play, it was the 10th play and if you get a strike you get to go again. Well I got 2 strikes on that one. I was so happy with myself. That is all that really happened with my greatness. On our way home, my mother being my mother, she was honking the horn at all the BYU students walking home and rolling down the window whistling. Well they didn't see my mother...they saw me. This embarrassed me a lot and my mom was laughing. Made me laugh, she is a funny character. What a great conference I had.

Callings...

You are probably grammar checking me, and saying "Katheryn it should be calling, calling is one, callings is more than one." well that is right, I've got 3 callings got them all in one weeks worth. The first week back in the PV 7th ward, I get called the next Wednesday and right there on the spot I got 2 callings. One being a Ward Chorister and the other being Enrichment Committee. Not thinking these callings would take up a lot of time. I was actually thinking they will be easy, well besides having to get up in front of the whole congregation and have them follow me. Today I got a call from the ward choir director asking me if I will be his assistant.

Today was my first day to lead as well as the organist(of course playing the organ). I lost my eye sight a few times and couldn't see the page, notes or people. I thought tears were going to stream out my eyes because they hurt so bad. I now know that I need to get new contacts before next time I lead. ha ha. It wasn't easy to lead a group. Scary to see 9,999 faces staring at you, all giving you the look of.."you going to get us through this girl I don't know with the ketchup stain on your skirt?!"

Well I have learned today my Sundays probably won't be as free as they use to be. My last calling was newsletter and I did that on my own time and by myself. Never had meetings just asked questions to the right people. Now I have meetings with the 2 communities I serve with and have the joy of joining the choir. Which I am actually excited about. I love singing. I've been singing my whole life. Started when I was in a singing group called sugar n' spice, also I had a little boom box I would always carry around with me. My family knew exactly where I was when they could hear me singing to the music playing. And I've been in choirs in school and I might say my teachers thought I had a great alto voice. Although I think sometimes...i am not very good. ha ha :)

Well there is my updates on all the 3 callings I have. Lets hope I can do this, and lead better next time its my turn to lead. I am a bit nervous. Didn't do to well today but I know I will do better. And I can't wait to prove myself that I can. Especially to have the Lord on my side who wants me to be perfect and inspired the leaders to give me these callings. How exciting to know the Savior has confidence in me."Perfect practice makes perfect."-Scott Baird

Prayer

Lately a lot of my prayers have been answered. I want to share just one example with you although I've had a lot happen this past week. I am going to tell you a story about my friend Jose. I met him when I was a freshman in High School in 2004. He was one of my closest friends and he of course had a crush on me. Who didn't? (ha ha just kidding). He was really cool. One thing that bugged me, he didn't understand the church and would make fun of me. Since I met him I've been praying for this boy to find the true Gospel. Well its been 5 years and he just was baptised.

I know sometimes we pray and our prayers aren't answered right away. For me that was hard. I didn't understand why my prayers weren't getting answered. But I will tell you, Heavenly Father will answer that prayer..but when you are ready for that prayer to be answered. I believe in prayer, Thank you to my Heavenly Father who has answered them for me. Even if it took 5 years. I know that Jose wouldn't of been ready 5 years ago like he is ready now. Now I pray his family will follow.
